Environmental Awareness

Since our doors first opened in 2014, we have been strong advocates of the “Going Green” movement and always aim to keep our earth as healthy as possible in the same way we do our patients.

We share the planet with many amazing creatures and pride ourselves in doing what we can to make less of a negative impact on the environment. We partnered with PACE to set the standard for environmental sustainability, salvaging and re-using and re-purposing building and landscaping supplies as we built Left Hand Animal Hospital. Our landscaping is designed as pet friendly and low water use, doing double duty to help our pets and our environment. We have recycling throughout the practice, and partner with our vaccine, medication, and supplies providers to recycle shipping containers… our recycling container is bigger than our trash containers! We have energy efficient lighting and the exterior of the building is designed to prevent light pollution at night, even as we keep our exterior safe for pets and families. We have highly efficient HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning). Our location is on the local bus route, allowing our team to use the bus to get to work to help encourage public transportation. We even have bike racks to encourage local pet parents to pick up medications and supplies by foot power!

Left Hand Animal Hospital is committed to more sustainable energy. We use Windsource® , which allows customers to get more or all of their energy from renewable resources, including windfarms that create electricity. As one of the nation’s largest voluntary renewable energy programs, Windsource is an easy, inexpensive way to make a difference. Left Hand Animal Hospital uses Windsource to make all that we do more sustainable for the environment.

At LHAH, we are committed to sustainability and environmental responsibility. As part of our dedication to reducing our ecological footprint, we take pride in distilling our own water onsite, eliminating the need for single-use plastic bottles. We use biodegradable gloves and recovery cones – these items will biodegrade naturally, reducing plastic waste. Additionally, we’ve implemented eco-friendly practices in our lab, employing methods that prioritize environmental conservation without compromising the quality of our services.

We are excited to announce that we have recently added solar panels to our building.

With our commitment to sustainability and renewable energy, we have taken a significant step towards reducing our carbon footprint and promoting a cleaner future.  By installing solar panels, we are harnessing the power of the sun to generate clean, renewable electricity. This environmentally friendly energy source will not only help us reduce our dependence on fossil fuels but also contribute to the overall well-being of our planet.

By adopting solar energy, we are aligning our business with sustainable practices and demonstrating our commitment to a greener future. We hope that our initiative will inspire others to explore renewable energy options and contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable world.
